  1. Users can permanently customize the astrology program by running
  2. the program distributed with it called CUSTOM95.COM.  Entering
  3. your favorite options at this program's screens and then saving
  4. your changes to file will store them in a file called CUSTOM.AST.
  5. The ASTROL95 program reads this file upon loading and customizes
  6. itself in accordance with the user's wishes.  The desired options
  7. that are in effect can be viewed at ASTROL95's Custom Set-Up
  8. screen.  If the CUSTOM.AST file is not present, or a particular
  9. option was not customized, the program default will display.
  10.  
  11. CUSTOM95.COM can also be used to permanently save your personal
  12. registration code so that you do not have to retype it at the
  13. program registration screen at the start of each session.  This
  14. is done by running CUSTOM95.COM in the directory in which you
  15. will be running ASTROL95 and entering your registration code once
  16. at the CUSTOM95 screen.  At the Program Registration screen of
  17. ASTROL95 you will then be able to automatically retrieve your
  18. registration code by pressing the F1 key at the registration code
  19. prompt.

  21. For users who want to deinstall the astrology program from their
  22. hard disk, the CUSTOM95.COM program provides a utility in its
  23. Supplementary Menu that will delete the special registration code
  24. directory.

  26. You can change the initial chart display mode from the default
  27. tabular format to graphic chartwheel format by answering Y to the
  28. first question at the Custom Set-Up screen.  Then when you next
  29. review or calculate a chart the results will display in the new
  30. mode.  Release 9.5 adds selections to redisplay a chart in either
  31. mode to the Calculation Options Menu and Saved Chart Options Menu.

  33. The graphic chartwheel option and U.S. and world maps require
  34. the user's PC to have a color graphics card.  A utility that
  35. enables a Hercules monographics card to correctly display B&W CGA
  36. graphics by simulating a CGA is available.

  38. Unregistered users can view their first saved chart in graphics
  39. format, but because this feature is original and required
  40. considerable work to develop, all other charts can be displayed
  41. in graphics format only by users who send in the fee to receive a
  42. registration code.

  44. You can print a hardcopy of the graphics chartwheel by loading
  45. the DOS external command file GRAPHICS.COM before running the
  46. astrology program and pressing Shift-PrintScreen while the
  47. chartwheel is on the screen.  This worked fine with an IBM
  48. Proprinter, but an Epson LQ1000 produced an elongated image
  49. (perhaps because the monitor was an EGA rather than a CGA).  The
  50. distribution diskette sent to registered users includes a number
  51. of public domain alternatives to GRAPHICS.COM.

  53. RUN CUSTOM95.COM TO PERMANENTLY SELECT THE FOLLOWING OPTIONS
  54. The default house system is the Placidus house system long known
  55. in the English-speaking world from Raphael's Ephemeris and
  56. Raphael's Tables of Houses.  Placidus houses utilize a complicated
  57. time-based system of house division.
  58.  
  59. Customers have requested the ability to select the following
  60. alternate house systems.
  61.  
  62. The Koch house system is a time-based system very similar to the
  63. Placidus house system.  Also known as the Birthplace system, it
  64. was first published by Dr. Walter Koch in 1971.
  65.  
  66. The Equal House System - Western Style assigns each house thirty
  67. degrees starting from the Ascendant.
  68.  
  69. The Equal House System - Eastern Style assigns each house one
  70. zodiacal sign starting from the Ascendant or rising sign.  Planets
  71. fall within a house if they fall within its zodiacal sign.
  72.  
  73. The Campanus house system is a space-based system which derives
  74. its houses by trisecting the quadrants formed by the intersection
  75. of the horizon and meridian with the great circle known as the
  76. prime vertical.
  77.  
  78. The CUSTOM95.COM program gives you the option of having your
  79. charts calculated according to the Sidereal zodiac instead of the
  80. default Tropical zodiac.  The Sidereal zodiac is tied to the
  81. constellations while the Tropical zodiac is tied to the ecliptic-
  82. equator nodal points.  Precession of the equator causes the nodal
  83. points and Tropical zodiac to move relative to the constellations
  84. at the rate of 1.4 degrees per century.

  86. The program will accept a 'delta' factor of up to 90 degrees in
  87. either direction from the standard Western sidereal zodiac.  The
  88. CUSTOM95.COM program prompts the user to enter this factor if the
  89. user selects the sidereal zodiac.

  91. CUSTOM95.COM allows the user to customize whether the program
  92. includes the Ascendant and Midheaven in aspects, midpoints, chart
  93. comparisons, and transits.  The program default is to include them.
  94. The default is not to include the moon's nodes, but the program
  95. can be customized to include them as well as to display them.  The
  96. program can be customized to display the Part of Fortune.

  98. The program can be customized to print tabular format charts to
  99. an ASCII format file on disk instead of to the printer, in which
  100. case the prompt will change from Print Hardcopy (Y/N) to Print to
  101. ASCII File (Y/N).

  103. The planet that the transits list starts from can be customized to
  104. be any planet from the sun to Pluto.  The duration of the list
  105. period can be from one to twelve months, except that if the
  106. transiting planets include the moon then the maximum duration is
  107. one month and if Venus then the maximum duration is six months.

  109. At the Supplementary Menu of CUSTOM95 there is an option to change
  110. the text and background colors of the astrology program's text
  111. screens from the default yellow and black.  A couple of customers
  112. who have color graphics cards but monochrome monitors have told me
  113. that the program's text screens appeared fuzzy.  Changing the text
  114. color to white should solve this problem.

  116. The continuous form feed option at the Supplementary Menu asks 
  117. whether the user wants continuous form feed printing or wants print
  118. pauses in which to change paper.
